Cowboy Junkies Bronx Concert reviews
ZZ Tops still Rocks!
At Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, we saw another bucket-list band checked. The drummer (Beard) was looking a bit frail and ironically beardless, but sure they moved a little slower, Cowboy Junkies may be an aging band. The notes and rhythm these guy pumped out had the same energy as their halcyon days. Elwood Francis did a stand-out job replacing Dusty Hills (RIP) on Bass, and Billy Gibbons still managed to get that trademark deep growl with vocals. It was a pretty posh venue that seemed more suited for quartets or maybe a piano singer, but the intimate setting let me get up close and personal with my favorite Texas blues rockers. A great show.
